HISTORY
1980 – 1986 have been a professional photographer for over 25 years. He started out his photographic career by doing underwater photography in the “Royal Australian Navy”, as a Diver / Demolitions / Underwater Weapons / Sonar op.
1986 – 1990 After six years service, Tim went to Europe and studied for a further four years in fashion photography. He was based in Zurich, Switzerland where he assisted and worked with some of Europe’s top fashion photographers. During his 4 years studying he traveled to markets such as Copenhagen/Denmark,Hamburg/Germany, Madrid & Barcelona/Spain and Vienna/Austria.
1990 – 1991 On Tim’s return he worked as fashion photographer in Sydney doing portfolios for the top modelling agencies. Vivien’s and Chadwicks.
1991 – 1993 After a year or so of doing this Tim decided to go back home to the Gold Coast and worked as an assistant for a commercial photographer. They did all the main photography for the launch of Australia Fair Shopping center, Earl Haven Village to name a few. Tim was also trained in all levels of medium and large format photography.
1993 -1995 During this period Tim was requested to go to Japan and work in Tokyo. A difficult decision as he had built up a very good client base. He did go to Tokyo, and carried on with his fashion photography. Whilst in Tokyo Tim also shot a campaign for Allen Edwards Hair Salon. (Very Famous UK and US hair salon)
1995 – 1997 Tim had a two year visa and at the end Tim returned to the coast to rebuild his client base. During this time, with the help of his basic Japanese language skills, he built up a strong Japanese clientele. Tim was the first Photographer on the coast to photograph and design photographic menu boards for restaurants, pubs (O’Malley’s) and take away. Tim stayed in Australia for a few more years until he was offered a 2 year contract to work back in Japan.
1997 -1999 The latter two of these years as the chief advertising photographer and concept coordinator for Watabe, one of Japans largest bridal companies. During that time, Tim, was sent around Japan and Hawaii to shoot & conceive numerous ad campaigns. He was also sent Shanghai, (China) to design and set-up studios, as well as train junior photographers, for the companies foray into China.
1999 – now.Tim returned to Australia after turning down a very lucrative offer to Manage, and run 5 studios in Shanghai/China for a 3 year contract. (Too much pollution!) This worked out well as Tim got a job as an official VR photographer for the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
Some of BLUEWAVE MEDIA clients have been; Major Billboard Bridal campaigns in Japan and China, Vouge Magazine, Various Fashion Magazine in Australia & Asia,The 2000 Olympics (Sydney), Mecure Hotels, ANA Hotel, Cosmetic Companies, Honda, Mercedes Benz, Donut King, Calleija Jewelry, Mustang Boats, OK Gift Japan, Penfold’s “The Grange” cellar and winery Adelaide Hills VR and stills, “APIA and The Federal Government / Parliament House VR (Canberra) to name a few.
Tim believes it is important in getting to know you, as the client, and discovering the style of photography that you desire and are comfortable with.
In Tim’s own words “by creating a warm relaxed fun and unhurried atmosphere, I believe is the secret to a great photo”. Along with his talent of combining the art of high fashion and mix of fun candid, he’ll create the brilliant wedding photographs you’ll be able to cherish, or commercial images which will make your product stand our.
